Case study 1
Overview
A residential installation in Manchester required acoustic treatment for a Mitsubishi air source heat pump. The property is situated in a quiet residential street, with the heat pump positioned close to the site boundary and neighbouring properties.
Challenge
The original heat pump installation exceeded acceptable noise levels at the boundary, particularly during evening operation. The client required a solution that would reduce noise to meet local authority requirements without compromising the unit’s performance or warranty.
Solution
Ambient Acoustics supplied a bespoke 16dBA acoustic enclosure fabricated from galvanised steel with a perforated steel inner skin and Rockwool acoustic lining. The enclosure was designed around the Mitsubishi unit’s specific dimensions, with full maintenance access and adequate ventilation to ensure continued efficient operation.
Result
Following installation, noise levels at the site boundary were reduced by 16dBA, bringing the unit well within local authority requirements. The client reported complete satisfaction with both the acoustic performance and the quality of the finish.
